What’s a Sleep Day?
Lown groups sleep by sleep day, not by the clock. You set a cut-off time — say, 8:30am — and every session counts toward whichever sleep day it started in, no matter when it ends. So if a session starts before your cut-off and finishes after it, it still belongs to the day before, and your new day starts at zero until the next session begins. It's a small difference, but it keeps one stretch of sleep together as a single entry instead of splitting it across two calendar days.
You can change your cut-off time whenever your routine changes. Nothing is lost or rewritten when you do — every session you've logged stays exactly as recorded. Only the grouping changes: your full history, every past session and every graph, is regrouped under the new cut-off, so your record always reads consistently, no matter which time you're using now.
Why I built this
I'm a dad to a toddler that doesn't like to go to sleep, and it was always an open question as to how much sleep he was getting, and when he was getting it. Most apps like this come with a pile of unnecessary features, data sharing you didn't ask for, and a subscription on top. My old tracking app was a good example of it. It had more trackable things than I ever used, a timer buried under a maze of taps, and no dark mode.
I built the app I wanted to use. I hope you'll find it helpful too, and that your days are filled with lown nights for your little one. If you have any feedback, good or a suggestion, I'd love to hear it.
